I'm currently part of the European Reference Center for Ruminant and Equine Welfare (EURCAW - Ruminants & Equines), whose role is to help EU member states comply with European animal welfare legislation. To this end, we produce recommendation documents and training courses based on scientific knowledge.

I co-supervise 3 PhD thesis:

- Valentin Guien (2022-2025): Prediction of internal states of animals by computing changes in the rhythm of activity

- Larissa Mysko (2022 – 2025): Synergies and compromises between animal welfare, economical and environmental performances of suckler cattle farms

- Elea Bailly-Caumette (2023 – 2026): Evaluation of synergies and antagonisms between farming systems sustainability and milk quality: which farmer’s practices for which compromise?

My research focuses on animal behaviour and welfare, particularly in farmed ruminants. I have worked on social behaviours, maternal behaviours, the human-animal relationship, learning and emotional capacities, animal welfare assessment and disease behaviors detected by precision breeding technologies.  The ultimate aim of my work is to simultaneously meet animal welfare and production requirements. At the same time, I am conducting a theoretical reflection on the concept of well-being.
